Ingredients

16 servings
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup water

Steps

  1. Combine the sugar and water in a small pot over medium-high heat.

  2. Whisk until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  3. Bring to a boil, then immediately take it off the heat.

  4. Cool completely before using or bottling.

Good to know

  • Dark brown sugar, not light. The molasses is the whole point.
  • Cool it fully before it goes near a cold drink, or it thins everything out.
  • Keeps a month in the fridge. For a thicker syrup for tiger stripes, use two parts sugar to one part water.
