Ingredients

1 serving
  • 1.5 tsp Genmaicha powderSuperboba
  • 300 ml hot water, about 80 C
  • 2 tsp liquid honey

Steps

  1. Put the Genmaicha powder in the mug and add a splash of the hot water. Work it into a smooth paste against the bottom of the mug before you add anything else.

  2. Pour in the rest of the water and whisk or stir briskly.

  3. Stir the honey through while the tea is hot and drink it straight away, before the toastiness settles out.

Good to know

  • Paste first, always. Tip all 300 ml in at once and you will spend the next minute chasing lumps around the mug.
  • Two teaspoons of honey is the ceiling. Genmaicha's whole appeal is the toasted rice, and more honey buries it.
  • Liquid honey dissolves; set honey tends to sit on the bottom.
  • Genmaicha is low to medium caffeine, which makes this a good late-afternoon cup.
  • For the milk version, use our Genmaicha Oat Latte instead.
